MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. More than 2,000 people came to see Russian movies in Belarus and Serbia as part of the Russian Film Festival, which ended in those countries in late October - early November, the Russian film promotion agency Roskino said on Friday.
The Russian Film Festival showed movies during the Minsk International Festival Listapad from November 5 through 9.
"Screenings of Russian movies were shown to an audience of over 1,000, with ‘Parents of a Strict Regime’ (comedy) attracting the most viewers," the agency said, noting the Belarusians’ affinity for Russian films.
In late October, the Russian Film Festival took place in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade, with an attendance of more than 1,200 people. "Desperate for Marriage," a romantic comedy starring Russian-Serbian actor Milos Bikovic, was a hit. It was presented to the Serbian audience by director Alexander Fomin personally.
Roskino added that the Russian Film Festival is expanding across countries, so Russian films will be shown in India and the United Arab Emirates in the near future.
The Russian Film Festival, also known as the Russian Cinema Days Abroad, is a project organized by Roskino with support from the Russian Culture Ministry, which combines online screenings and in-person events. The main objective of the project is to inform foreign viewers about the variety of Russian contemporary content.
