Trucks with Russian aid for zoos, animal shelters head to DPR, Ukraine cities on Monday

The aid is worth 28 tonnes

MOSCOW, MAY 23./TASS/. Russia’s Civic Chamber will send on Monday two trucks with fodder and other cargo for animals in zoos and animal shelters of Donetsk (Donetsk People’s Republic) as well as of Kherson and Melitopol, as part of the Zoodrug campaign.

"The All-Russian campaign Zoodrug is dispatching all together two trucks with aid for zoos and shelters of Donbass, which this time will deliver cargo to Kherson, Melitopol and Donetsk. The aid is worth 28 tonnes. These are various types of food for animals in zoos and shelters, crushed wheat and veterinary medicines", says the press service of the Civic Chamber.

The campaign was launched on March 31 at the initiative of the chamber’s commission for ecology and environmental protection. Within its framework money is raised, fodder and veterinary medicines are collected, animals without owners are sent to Russia, and aid is sent to zoos and shelters in Donbass and Ukrainian cities. Earlier, two trucks already delivered aid to Donetsk and Lugansk worth overall more than 35 tonnes. It was distributed among zoos, equestrian clubs and animal shelters.
