MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. Russian diplomacy’s position in the digital media is an alternative to the dominating point of view in the West for many world nations, Anatoly Torkunov, rector of MGIMO University, told TASS ahead of a conference on digital international relations.
"Russia’s digital diplomacy has one unique advantage: it gives an alternative to the dominating narrative for people in many countries, it helps them develop their own unbiased point of view about the developments," he said, adding that unlike Russia’s, the United States’ digital diplomacy is much more of a "diplomacy of personalities than of institutions."
He stressed the necessity of training specialists in the area of data analysis, the use of artificial intellect and modelling socio-economic processes in the context of international relations. "This is where MGIMO is making serious contribution to the work of the foreign ministry," he said.
According to Torkunov, a conference at MGIMO will be dedicated to the topic of diplomacy in the digital media. The conference will discuss influences of the digital transformation processes on various aspects of international relations and diplomatic service and the potential of the use of data analysis and artificial intellect in the sphere of international relations.
