Moscow courts put 60 under arrest for participating in unauthorized rallies

According to the Moscow police force, 600 people were taken to territorial police stations, most of the detainees were fined

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Courts have put under arrest 60 people for participation in unauthorized demonstrations over the past few days, the Moscow City Court’s spokesman, Dmitry Oveshnikov, told TASS.

"The courts arrested 60 people for violating article 20.2 of the Administrative Code (violation of the rules of holding public rallies). Most of the detainees - more than 200 - were fined," he said.

On February 24, there was an unauthorized demonstration in Moscow’s Pushkin Square over the events in Ukraine. According to the Moscow police force, 600 people were taken to territorial police stations. Later, another two demonstrations, far smaller in scale, followed. Earlier, the Interior Ministry, Investigative Committee and Moscow Prosecutor’s Office warned of responsibility for participation in unauthorized mass demonstrations.
