MOSCOW, July 1. /TASS/. Russia confirmed 23,543 COVID-19 cases over the past day, a new high since January 17, bringing the total caseload to 5,538,142, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Thursday.
In relative terms the number of coronavirus cases grew by 0.43%.
Moscow confirmed 7,597 new COVID-19 cases. Some 2,663 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Moscow Region, 1,612 in St. Petersburg, 378 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 320 in the Bryansk Region and 319 in the Republic of Buryatia.
The number of the so-called active cases or patients who are undergoing treatment now has reached 384,935. This is a record high since February 17.
Moscow daily cases
Moscow’s COVID-19 cases surged by 7,597 over the past day versus 5,823 a day earlier and the total case tally hit 1,365,812.
In relative terms, the number of cases grew by 0.56%.
Over the past day, Moscow registered 108 COVID-19 deaths (compared with 117 a day earlier) and the total death toll has reached 22,556 since the start of the pandemic, according to the crisis center.
As many as 5,934 patients were discharged from hospitals over the past day, and the total number of recoveries has hit 1,164,653. Currently, 178,603 people are undergoing treatment in the capital.
Patients' deaths
Russia’s coronavirus fatalities grew by 672 in the past 24 hours compared to 669 deaths confirmed a day earlier. This is the highest number since the start of the pandemic.
According to the crisis center, 135,886 people have died nationwide so far. The conditional mortality rate stands at 2.45%.
St. Petersburg recorded 115 fatalities in the past 24 hours, the Nizhny Novgorod and Irkutsk regions confirmed 25 deaths each, Buryatia reported 23 fatalities, while the Krasnodar and Moscow regions recorded 20 deaths each.
Patients' recoveries
Russia’s coronavirus recoveries grew by 16,928 in the past 24 hours reaching 5,017,321.
According to the crisis center, recoveries stand at about 90.6% of the total number of infected people.
Another 1,967 patients recovered in St. Petersburg, 1,805 in the Moscow Region, 293 in the Voronezh Region, 268 in the Sverdlovsk Region and 227 in Buryatia.
