No single opinion yet on introducing ‘anti-COVID passports’ — Kremlin

According to the spokesman, the discussion of this subject is conducted within the framework of expert consultations

MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. The subject of introducing the so-called anti-COVID passports for those inoculated against the coronavirus is currently discussed only at the level of experts; there is no unified opinion on this issue, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

According to him, the discussion of this subject "is conducted within the framework of expert consultations." "Yet so far there is no single point of view," the Kremlin representative said.

He responded in the negative to a question whether there is a deadline on making a decision on this issue.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova expressed an opinion that "anti-COVID passports" at this stage are a timely condition in the issue of counteracting the pandemic. At the same time, the ombudswoman noted the necessity to observe the rights of citizens who cannot get inoculated due to their health condition, emphasizing that her office is ready to react in a timely fashion to possible problems in this sphere.

On January 18, Russia launched mass voluntary vaccination against the coronavirus. As Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated on Tuesday, the Russian government is working on the issue of international recognition of certificates of inoculation against the coronavirus.
