Cosmonauts to begin working with 3D printer in space this fall

The project is scheduled to start between the arrival of the Soyuz MS-22 crew and the departure of the Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION, June 10. /TASS/. Work involving a 3D printer delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) in June will begin this fall, a TASS special correspondent, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev, has reported from the orbital outpost.

In his words, the project is scheduled to start between the arrival of the Soyuz MS-22 crew and the departure of the Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft.

Earlier, Russian state-run space corporation Roscosmos said the Soyuz MS-22 mission is scheduled for September 21. The crew currently includes Sergei Prokopyev, Anna Kikina, and Dmitry Petelin. If a decision is made to send Kikina to space aboard the United States’ Crew Dragon, NASA astronaut Francisco Rubio will take her seat in the Soyuz.

On November 17, 2021, TASS and Russia’s Roscosmos space agency signed a memorandum of cooperation stipulating the establishment of a TASS news office onboard the International Space Station. Cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev is currently in charge of the office. Cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin, whose mission lasted 12 days, was the first TASS special correspondent in space.
