Hainan, Austria's universities team up for a joint program in tourism management

There are 11 experimental innovation zones on Hainan

HAIKOU, May 31. /TASS/. Hainan Tropical Ocean University and Austria's IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems adopted a new joint program for the organization of teaching tourism management agreeing to boost ties in this direction, the Sanya Daily reported.

According to the newspaper, the parties signed an online agreement which, as they claim, "will mark a new stage in cooperation between the two universities." One of the main tasks is to "train first-class specialists meeting international standards." This project is supposed to boost Hainan's tourism and will contribute to the regional free trade port.

“Our universities have long maintained contacts with each other, we are actively promoting cooperation", said rector of Hainan Tropical Ocean University Chen Rui. "The Tourism Management Program, implemented jointly with the University of Applied Sciences Krems, is the first joint educational project on the island with the participation of a foreign educational institution".

He specified that the Hainan side has been cooperating with the Austrian partner for eight years in the training of professional personnel in the above-mentioned specialty at the bachelor's level. "Over the years, we have trained many valuable specialists," Chen Rui stressed.

There are 11 experimental innovation zones on Hainan, including those designed for the implementation of projects on international public education. The most ambitious programs for the training of high-quality specialists are carried out in Lingshui-Li Autonomous County in the southeast of the island, in the new district of Jiangdong (the administrative center of the province —Haikou) and in the resort city of Sanya. At the same time, the provincial administration creates attractive conditions for investors, forms a developed research infrastructure. According to the government's plan, by 2050, this southernmost region of China will become a unique international cluster with the campuses of leading universities and advanced laboratories.
