Trump camp shows interest in resuming dialogue with Russia, senior diplomat admits

Sergey Ryabkov emphasized that Russia was ready to discuss the Ukrainian settlement but only on an equal and mutually acceptable basis

MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump’s team is showing interest in resuming dialogue with Russia and Moscow is ready for that, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.

"Despite inconsistent statements from Trump and his team, they at least display interest in resuming dialogue with Russia that was interrupted by the Democrats," he said.

"We are ready for dialogue and have said this more than once. We are also ready to discuss the Ukrainian settlement but only on an equal, mutually acceptable basis," he emphasized.

According to the senior Russian diplomat, "it will be necessary to acknowledge the realities on the ground and root out the causes" of the crisis that forced Russia to launch its special military operation in Ukraine.
