Russian ambassador not expecting any change in UK policy in case of Labour victory

"It means that the future government will take a hostile position towards Russia," Andrey Kelin emphasized

LONDON, April 4. /TASS/. Great Britain's foreign policy course will hardly change even if the opposition Labour Party defeats the incumbent Conservatives to take 10 Downing Street in a future UK general election for Parliament, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin said in an interview with Britain’s LBC radio.

He said that the Labour "policy that has been declared has no difference at all from the policy of [the] Conservatives. <…> I do not speak about internal policy because there is not much published about the future," he said. "It means that the future government will take a hostile position towards Russia," the ambassador emphasized.

Commenting on the words of Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer, who had called for expelling the Russian ambassador to the Court of St. James's from London after the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Kelin said that Russia is always ready to take appropriate response measures.
