MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. Investing in building up the defense industry’s capacity will be a key area of focus going forward, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said.
"Implementing investment projects to ramp up the capacity of the military-industrial complex [will be] in an area of particular focus," Medvedev said.
"It is important that these investment projects are completed within the scheduled timeframe," he continued. "Therefore, I would ask our colleagues from the ministry of industry and trade to submit a monthly report summarizing progress in these activities with indicated milestones and deadlines for projects," Medvedev added. The Russian Office of the Prosecutor General will also oversee the implementation of the investment projects, he noted.
The capacity buildup will primarily cover weapons, required explosives, air defense and counter battery systems, and armor, the official said.
