Russia to do everything to sober West up in Ukraine situation, Lavrov says

It is noted that the West has achieved its goal of turning Ukraine into an anti-Russian entity

MINSK, January 19. /TASS/. Moscow will do everything to make sure that the West sobers up in terms of the Ukraine situation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday.

The West has achieved its goal of turning Ukraine into an anti-Russian entity in order to damage Russia’s legitimate interests, weaken the country and ensure its strategic defeat "with a view to calling its territorial integrity into question," Lavrov said at a press conference following a joint board meeting of the Belarusian and Russian foreign ministries.

"These are totally presumptuous people who place their big-time political ambitions and attempts to fulfill their sense of superiority, colonial and neo-colonial dreams and illusions above the interests of their nations," the Russian top diplomat stressed. "I hope that they will sober up. At least, we will do everything to make sure that our colleagues in NATO and the European Union sober up as soon as possible," he added.
