Kremlin spokesman slams West’s actions as state banditry

Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the property of those businessmen had been confiscated, their aircraft and other assets had been seized

MOSCOW, March 16. /TASS/. The West’s actions against major Russian businesses are nothing but state banditry marking the end of the principle of inviolability of private property, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

He pointed out that many leading Russian businessmen were active globally since their companies were present throughout the world and had international standing. "This is why the steps that the collective West has been taking against them can only be described as state banditry," the Kremlin spokesman insisted.

Peskov emphasized that the property of those businessmen had been confiscated, their aircraft and other assets had been seized. "It distinctly shows the end of the nearly sacred principle of the inviolability of private property and private businesses and this sends a clear message that it is dangerous to do business there," Peskov stressed.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman emphasized that the president’s meetings with major businessmen would continue. "These are entrepreneurs who do business, invest, create jobs and develop technologies in our country. Dialogue between them and the country’s authorities, including the president, will certainly continue," Peskov assured, when asked if the Kremlin planned to continue the practice given the risks that companies were facing.
