Putin informs Scholz about goals of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine — Kremlin

The German chancellor "expressed concern over active combat operations and reports about casualties among civilians and military losses of the sides"

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz continued to discuss the situation in Ukraine, the Kremlin press service said on Friday after their telephone conversation.

"The leaders continued to discuss the situation in Ukraine. Vladimir Putin informed the German chancellor about Russia’s principled approaches in the context of the special military operation to protect Donbass’ population and explained in detail its goals and tasks, which will be implemented," it said.

The German chancellor "expressed concern over active combat operations and reports about casualties among civilians and military losses of the sides," it said. "In this connection, Vladimir Putin recalled that Western partners for eight years have been turning a blind eye on the Kiev regime’s genocide against the Donbass republic’s residents, on the death of around 14,000 , including thousands of children."

"In the course of the special operation, Russian servicemen are taking all possible measures to save the lives of civilians and reports about alleged shelling of Kiev and other large cities are flagrant propaganda fakes," it said.

The phone call was initiated by the German side.
