SOCHI, October 21./TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree with the opinion of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the fate of humankind currently depends on a narrow circle of the countries winning in WWII and being permanent members of the UN Security Council.
"No," Putin said in reply to a question from the moderator of a meeting of the Valdai International Club.
Putin said he understood the reasons behind such a statement from Erdogan. "Because he believes, in all appearances, that Turkey could also be a permanent member of the Security Council. But it is not for us, not for Russia to decide - this must be decided in a consensus process when determining and resolving issues of this kind," Putin said.
Putin believes it would be fair to raise the issue of putting a number of countries on the list of UN Security Council permanent members "And various solutions are possible there," the president added.
