The prime minister declared three days of mourning

BELGRADE, January 1. /TASS/. All police forces in Montenegro are involved in the search for the shooter who killed seven people in the town of Cetinje, with the armed forces staying on standby alert, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic has said.

"A terrible tragedy has shocked all of us. All police units are working in the field. We are looking for the perpetrator and are close to apprehending him. Doctors are struggling for the lives of four people at a Montenegrin clinical center. All of them are being operated on and the medics are doing everything possible for saving them," RTCG TV quoted Spajic as saying.

The prime minister declared three days of mourning. He also said it was necessary to toughen penalties for the illegal possession and carrying of weapons.

"We have a chronic shortage of police officers in all municipalities. We will announce a competition for the urgent recruitment of police officers without waiting for the decision of the Council of Europe. We will provide explanations later," he pointed out, adding that "the Armed Forces are also on standby."

The director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Aleksandar Radovic, said that the hospital accommodated "four patients -three men and one woman - whose lives are in danger."

After the tragedy in Cetinje, several cities canceled outdoor shows.
