SEOUL, December 29. /TASS/. The control tower of Muan International Airport warned the crashed Jeju Air’s Boeing 737-800 airplane about the danger of collision with birds, the Yonhap news agency reported, citing South Korean authorities.
According to preliminary information, the disaster occurred due to a landing gear malfunction caused by a collision with birds. The airplane attempted to land, but was forced to go for an additional round. Eyewitnesses say the plane's engine caught fire in mid-air. The crew tried to land the plane on its fuselage, but the plane was unable to slow down and hit a wall at the end of the runway, causing an explosion and fire.
