MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. The Bologoye strategic missile division (stationed in the Tver Region) has dispatched Yars mobile surface-to-surface missile systems to combat patrol missions, the Russian Defense Ministry told the media on Monday.
"The Bologoye missile division has dispatched autonomous launchers of the strategic mobile missile system Yars to combat patrol missions. The crews are performing assigned tasks and on-the-fly instructions, including intensive maneuvering on combat patrol routes," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Yars crews are to carry out a 100-kilometer march and practice countering sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the way.
Within the framework of the maneuvering operations, the missile units are to practice deployment in stealth in the forest. Support units are to carry out the extraction of special equipment from zones of hypothetical chemical contamination, the Defense Ministry said.
The scheduled combat training events allow for checking the readiness of personnel, weapons and military equipment for long-term duty on combat patrol routes.
The RS-24 Yars - a modification of the Topol-M missile - is Russia’s strategic missile system armed with a solid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile. It was developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology under Russian Academy of Sciences member Yury Solomonov.
