Emergency situation declared in two Russian villages after explosion of Ukrainian shell

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. An emergency situation has been declared in two villages of Russia’s Belgorod Region following the explosion of a Ukrainian artillery shell that caused casualties, the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on his Telegram channel.

"There has been an emergency - an artillery shell was fired from Ukraine at us. It exploded in a village. Some people were injured. For safety reasons the authorities of the Belgorod Region have declared an emergency situation in Zhuravlyovka and Nekhoteyevka," Gladkov said, adding that those affected had been granted the necessary assistance.

Earlier, Russia’s Investigative Committee launched criminal proceedings over bombardments of the Belgorod Region by the Ukrainian military. According to the IC, on February 24 artillery shells hit villages in the Belgorod and Rovenki districts. Two adults and one child born in 2015 suffered bodily injuries. Several homes and one car were damaged.

On February 27, two missiles fired by the Ukrainian army with the an Uragan multiple launcher crashed on a field in near Zelyonaya Street of the Nekhoteyevka village, the Belgorod Region, causing no destruction or casualties.
