TOKYO, March 20. /TASS/. Drafting of the agreement on creating a free trade zone between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) may be finalized by the beginning of this summer, Russia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Sergey Tolchenov said.
Moscow is hoping that the free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union could be signed "as soon as possible," he said, according to the Jakarta Globe newspaper. That said, Tolchenov noted that other EAEU members (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) are still working on the text of the document, the paper wrote.
"This is not an agreement between just Russia and Indonesia. It involves all EAEU members. <...> So it has to be signed by all six heads of state [of EAEU and Indonesia]. <...> If we (EAEU member states and Indonesia) manage to finalize [the text] before June, perhaps all six leaders can get together in Moscow to sign [the document]," the diplomat said.
Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said on March 19 that the Asian country’s president would pay a state visit to Russia in June where he intends to sign an agreement on establishing a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union.
