US begins imposing import duties on goods from Canada, Mexico

The US blamed Mexican authorities for failing to properly organize the fight against drug cartels and stated that criminal organizations are expanding their illegal business in Canada in its statement

WASHINGTON, March 4. /TASS/. The United States has begun introducing import duties on Canadian and Mexican goods that were postponed for a month, the White House said in a statement on its website.

"While President [of the United States Donald] Trump gave both Canada and Mexico ample opportunity to curb the dangerous cartel activity and influx of lethal drugs flowing into our country, they have failed to adequately address the situation," the White House said.
