NEW YORK, February 26. /TASS/. US entrepreneur and chief of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk headed the rating of superbillionaires, which comprises only 24 people from all over the world, The Wall Street Journal said, citing data from the Altrata analytical company.
Recent figures reveal the emergence of a new class of ultra-wealthy individuals - the superbillionaires, each with a fortune of at least $50 billion. Altrata's list includes 24 such individuals from around the globe. Topping the list is Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, Tesla, and X, with an estimated net worth of $419.4 billion. He is followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ($263.8 billion), LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault ($238.9 billion), Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison ($237 billion), and Meta Corporation (recognized as extremist in Russia) CEO Mark Zuckerberg ($220.8 billion).
The combined wealth of the 24 richest people in the world totals $3.3 trillion, a sum comparable to the nominal GDP of France, according to Altrata. Sixteen of the individuals on the list have fortunes exceeding $100 billion. Today’s superbillionaires largely amassed their wealth in the technology sector, whereas in the 19th and early 20th centuries, industrial workers were the richest people across the society.
