MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. The Kropotkin oil pumping station belonging to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in South Russia took serious damage during a recent drone attack, and will require extensive repair work, said Russian pipeline operator Transneft, a CPC stakeholder.
"CPC specialists believe that the effects of said attack will take 1.5 to 2 months to repair, potentially leading to a decline in oil pumping volumes from Kazakhstan by about 30%," Transneft said.
"The facility suffered serious damage as a result of the attack: the roof was destroyed, the closed indoor switchgear and the gas turbine unit were damaged. Cables and the cable rack and a water tank were hit; two transformers, filters and the gas turbine unit fire extinguishing system were destroyed," the company added.
Oil is temporarily being rerouted to the Tengiz - Novorossiysk oil pipeline via an emergency loop that bypasses the station, which is currently out of service.
In 2024, CTC transported 63 million tons of oil, with approximately 74% of that volume from American and other Western shippers, Transneft noted.
The Kropotkin pumping station was attacked by seven fixed-wing type Ukrainian drones on February 17, 2025. CPC employees prevented oil from spilling out of the station. The consortium notified all its shareholders, including representatives of companies from the US and Europe, about the terrorist attack and its aftermath.
