Russia and Saudi Arabia will expand cooperation on oil and gas — statement

The sides also agreed to work to broaden cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, electricity and renewable energy sources

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Russia and Saudi Arabia agreed to expand cooperation in the field of oil and gas, according to a joint statement following negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.

"The two sides agreed on the importance of expanding cooperation in the following areas: oil and gas, such as procurement, supply and standardization of equipment in the field of oil and gas, research and development services in the field of oil, gas and petrochemicals, assessment of the use of modern technologies in this field between companies of the two countries," the statement said.

At the same time, Russia and Saudi Arabia also agreed to work to expand cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, electricity and renewable energy sources. "The two sides agreed on the importance of expanding cooperation in the following areas: <...> the peaceful use of nuclear energy, electricity and renewable energy sources, including solar, wind and geothermal energy, the development of projects and technologies in this area," the document noted.
