Russian oil prices to be formed in real directions of deliveries

As Igor Sechin said, there should be now excessive anxiety related to discounts for Russian oil

BANGALORE, February 6. /TASS/. Russian oil prices will be evolved in real destinations, CEO of Rosneft oil major Igor Sechin said at the India Energy Week.

"If Russian oil is not supplied to the Europe’s market, then there is no reference price. Reference prices will be formed where volumes are actually delivered to," Sechin said. "There will probably be the need at the first stage to abandon futures transactions - I mean cash-settled futures - in order to adjust these market indicators," he noted.

There should be now excessive anxiety related to discounts for Russian oil, Sechin said. "I believe specialists know how to solve these issues. The market accepts any commercial deal. The totality of these transactions in terms of quantity provides the estimated value used for settlements," he added.

"In general, it was written long ago in Ecclesiastes, ‘That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered’," Sechin concluded.
