Damage assessment needed before considering Nord Stream repairs — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov recalled that Denmark issued permission for the Nord Stream AG joint venture to conduct its own study of pipeline damage sites

MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov believes that damage assessment is necessary before considering repairs at the Nord Stream site.

"First, we must wait for a complete assessment of the damage. We need to study the damage data before experts make a decision on the chances for restoration or non-restoration [of the damaged Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines]," Peskov said.

Peskov added that information confirming the version of sabotage that damaged the Nord Stream pipelines is already trickling in and it is crucial to uncover the people behind this. "The fact that information has already begun to flow in confirming that it was sabotage or terrorism, call it what you will, and this once again confirms the information that was and is available to the Russian side," he said, adding, "it is crucial not to stop, it is imperative to get to the bottom of who was behind this explosion."

The Kremlin representative recalled that Denmark issued permission for the Nord Stream AG joint venture to conduct its own study of pipeline damage sites. "We will wait. We need to be patient and wait for information from the joint venture or from the participants on our side, from Gazprom," he said. At the same time, Peskov said that no information came from Copenhagen yet.
