Transition to payments in rubles is going in stages — Kremlin

This must be "absolutely thought-out, gradual and carefully calibrated activity," Dmitry Peskov noted

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Expansion of international payments in rubles is implemented in stages and cautiously and there is no room for sudden movements, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

"Nobody is in a rush" in such work, Peskov said. "This is the move in stages, very cautious, with consideration of financial and economic realities existing on global markets," he said. "Certainly, there is no room for sudden movements," the Kremlin’s spokesman added.

This must be "absolutely thought-out, gradual and carefully calibrated activity," Peskov noted. "It is impossible to act otherwise," he added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decree on March 31 that provides for a new procedure of payments for Russian gas by buyers from unfriendly countries since April 1.
