Sanya /China/, January 7. /TASS/. Over 484.7 thousand tourists visited the resort city of Sanya in Hainan province over the New Year weekend, which lasted from January 1 to 3 in China, the Sanya Daily reported.

According to the article, the average hotel occupancy rate in the city was 78.82% from December 31 to January 2, which is up 9.38% year-on-year. The figure in Yalunwang Bay was 81%, in Haitanwang Bay - 79.6%, in Sanya Bay - 81.75%, Dadunhai - 80.04%, in urban areas the average hotel occupancy rate was 74.28%.

Many Sanya attractions launched special themed events and activities aimed at attracting tourists on the New Year weekend, the Sanya Daily wrote. According to the newspaper, more than 41.5 thousand tourists visited the Nanshan tourist complex in three days, over 25.7 thousand people went to the Tianya Haijiao (The edges of heaven, corners of the sea) coastal park, where the Hainan International Wedding Festival is annually held, 21.7 thousand traveled to Wuzhizhou Island Tourism Zone and 16.4 thousand tourists visited to the tropical park in Yalunwan Bay.

Sanya is China's leading resort, where more than 1 million people live, according to the 2021 census.
