Russian intel chief alarmed over growing Western attempts to subvert CIS power structures

The foreign intelligence chief pointed out in this regard that "the radical nationalist agenda goes hand in hand with pro-Western, anti-Russian and anti-Chinese agendas, and anti-Chinese slogans"

MINSK, December 14. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Director Sergey Naryshkin expressed alarm over the growing attempts by Western countries to undermine the current institutions of political power in the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), including by means of fomenting ethnic separatism and xenophobic public attitudes.

"We are particularly concerned about the recently intensified attempts of the Western bloc to undermine the current power institutions in the Commonwealth [of Independent States] by fomenting ethnic separatism and xenophobic public sentiments," he said in addressing participants in the 19th Meeting of Heads of Security and Intelligence Agencies from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Member States, which is currently taking place in Minsk. Also attending the meeting is Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

The foreign intelligence chief pointed out in this regard that "the radical nationalist agenda goes hand in hand with pro-Western, anti-Russian and anti-Chinese agendas, and anti-Chinese slogans." "This is a sort of selective chauvinism," he pointed out.

Naryshkin also recounted that it was under the cover of such ardent nationalistic slogans that Anglo-Saxon countries "spent decades colonizing Ukraine, which has led to the current tragedy of the Ukrainian people and society."
