Ceasefire resumption during talks with Kiev not discussed — Kremlin

Any pause in the operation is used by the nationalist units to regroup and continue attacks on the Russian servicemen, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out

MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. There is no discussion of resuming a cease-fire during negotiations with Ukraine, the nationalists are using the pauses to regroup, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"No, the fact is that the pause in the operation, any pause, is used by the nationalist units to regroup and continue attacks on the Russian servicemen," the Kremlin spokesman said in response to a related question.

Peskov stressed that "this has happened more than once and therefore, of course, it complicates the process."

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, its goals were denazification and demilitarization of that country.

When clarifying the developments unfolding, the Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure.
