BERLIN, May 19. /TASS/. Carlo Masala, a distinguished expert in military affairs and professor at the Bundeswehr University in Munich, asserts that the normalization of relations with Russia has become a central priority for US President Donald Trump.
"Trump’s primary goal is to restore bilateral relations with Russia," Masala explained. "This involves re-establishing economic ties in an effort to bring Russia closer to the United States. Such considerations are at the top of his agenda, and he appears willing to make significant concessions to achieve this."
According to Masala, Europe’s influence over US policy regarding the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict remains limited.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold his third dialogue with President Trump since the start of the year. The US leader announced this upcoming conversation via his social media platform, Truth Social, indicating he plans to speak with Putin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time (5:00 p.m. Moscow time). Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed to TASS that preparations for this discussion are indeed underway.
