MINSK, March 5. /TASS/. Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said Minsk is ready to host talks between his Russian and US counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, respectively, with Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky.
"We need to persuade and negotiate with Zelensky, too, because Zelensky represents the majority of the Ukrainian population. Therefore, we should negotiate. <…> Do come. We will sit [to the negotiating table] here and reach an agreement calmly, without any noise. So tell Trump that I am looking forward to receiving him here with Putin and Zelensky," Lukashenko said as he sat with US blogger Mario Nawfal for an interview, according to news agency BelTA.
The Belarusian president believes that Trump is a more independent president than his predecessor Joe Biden.
"Even if it is wrong, he will make a decision. Biden did not make the decision himself. He was told not to call, and he didn't call. He was told to call Putin a dictator, and he called him a dictator," Lukashenko said.
He also suggested that during the Biden era, representatives of the military industry actively pushed for their interests.
"And Biden, by virtue of his character and by virtue of his physical position, could not resist, as Trump resists. That's the whole issue," Lukashenko concluded.
