NEW YORK, February 7. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine will not end without some sort of negotiation between Russia and Ukraine, US special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg said.
"Very frankly, both sides in any negotiation have to give; that’s just the way it is in negotiations," he said in an interview with The New York Post, adding that the agreement would hardly be agreeable or acceptable to everybody but it is necessary to "try to run this balance."
US President Donald Trump said after a meeting with Zelensky in September that "not only is it time" for a peace agreement — but that an agreement could be made "that’s good for both sides," Kellogg added.
Trump expressed hope earlier that agreements on solving the Ukraine crisis would be reached "in the not too distant future."
At a meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry's top management on June 14, 2024, President Vladimir Putin set forth the conditions for resolving the situation in Ukraine, which included Kiev withdrawing troops from Donbass and Novorossiya and its abandoning plans to join NATO.
