Reports about US, Israel planning to eliminate Iran greatly exaggerated, Trump says

Earlier, Trump signed a memorandum restoring maximum pressure on Iran

WASHINGTON, February 5. /TASS/. The rumors that the US and Israel are plotting to annihilate Iran have been greatly exaggerated, US President Donald Trump said.

"Reports that the United States, working in conjunction with Israel, is going to blow Iran into smithereens, ARE GREATLY EXAGGERATED," the US leader said on his Truth Social page.

Trump said that he wants "Iran to be a great and successful Country," but without nuclear weapons.

Due to this, he "would much prefer a Verified Nuclear Peace Agreement, which will let Iran peacefully grow and prosper." In Trump’s opinion, "We should start working on it immediately, and have a big Middle East Celebration when it is signed and completed."

Earlier, Trump signed a memorandum restoring maximum pressure on Iran. In particular, the document calls for intensifying Washington’s efforts aimed at reducing Iranian oil exports. However, Trump did not rule out a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Following this, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Trump’s fears over Tehran developing a nuclear arsenal were unfounded as Iran remains strongly committed to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He reiterated that there is a religious decree from Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that bans the production of nuclear weapons. Araghchi emphasized that another attempt to apply maximum pressure on Tehran will fail just like the previous ones.
