Kyrgyzstan to make efforts to support peace as part of CSTO presidency — minister

Earlier, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said at a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council that the country plans to develop the organization's peacekeeping capabilities

MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan plans to make efforts to maintain peace and security as part of its presidency in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev said following talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"In 2025, presidency in the CSTO passed over to the Kyrgyz Republic. And as part of our presidency we will make as many efforts as possible to implement all the goals and objectives arising from the priorities of Kyrgyzstan's presidency in the CSTO, first of all, in the issues of maintaining peace and security," he said.

Earlier, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said at a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council that the country plans to develop the organization's peacekeeping capabilities during its presidency, including by ramping up the activities of the special representative of the CSTO secretary-general for peacekeeping affairs. The Kyrgyz president suggested that member countries of the organization share best practices to improve the system of training military personnel, as well as increase the effectiveness of military-economic cooperation.
