WASHINGTON, November 22. /TASS/. The United States does not rule out the possibility of including antipersonnel landmines into its future arms deliveries to Ukraine, Department of Defense Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh has told reporters.
"They were included in the most recent drawdown. In terms of further packages, I just don't have more to preview," she said.
When asked whether antipersonnel landmines could be provided in future US assistance packages, she replied: "Sure."
She gave no direct answer to the question of how Washington was planning to control Kiev’s use of US landmines.
Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Biden authorized the delivery of antipersonnel landmines to Ukraine, reversing his administration’s earlier policy that banned the transfer and use of US antipersonnel landmines outside the Korean Peninsula.-
On November 20, the Pentagon confirmed that the US administration had authorized the deployment of anti-personnel landmines in Ukraine. The department clarified that this concerns non-persistent mines, which become inert after a preset period of time, mitigating risks to civilians.
