World expects Trump to deliver on pledges to end Gaza conflict — Iranian vice president

Reza Aref said he believes that Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon are exacerbated by the "indifference of the international community"

DOHA, November 11. /TASS/. All countries of the world expect Republican President-elect Donald Trump to deliver on his pledges to end the conflict in Gaza, Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said.

"The US is the main supporter of the Zionist regime's actions. The world is waiting for the new US government [to honor] its promises to immediately end the war against Gaza and Lebanon," he told an extraordinary summit of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Riyadh. "Condoning Israel's actions undermines all the rules and norms of peaceful coexistence."

He said he believes that Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon are exacerbated by the "indifference of the international community."

The Saudi capital is hosting the second extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit where delegates discuss the situation in the Middle East. The participants are hammering out a common position on the conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, discussing ways to protect and support civilians, and trying to put pressure on the international community to stop Israeli aggression.

On October 20, Trump said in an interview with the Dubai-based Al Arabiya television channel that if he had been the US president, the Gaza conflict between Hamas and Israel would have been averted. He also said earlier that if he won the election, he would be able to put an end to chaos in the Middle East.
