HELSINKI, March 21. /TASS/. The Ministry of the Interior of Finland proposes to allocate 74 million euros for a rapid construction of a fence on the Russian border, the agency said in its press release.
Overall, the Ministry offers to provide slightly over 86 million euros, because the "measures on reinforcement of border control, introduced after the closure of border checkpoints and centralization of application for international shelter, caused and continue to cause additional expenses for the border security service."
Previously, the media reported that the ministry intends to accelerate the construction of a fence on the Russian border in order to complete all works by 2026.
It is expected that about 200 km of fence will be built on Finland’s eastern border with Russia between 2024 and 2026. The largest part of the fence will be located in the southeastern part of the border.
