Israeli army says it struck 150 Hamas targets in Gaza

The press service also reported that "the ground troops uncovered more than 15 underground tunnel shafts" in the Maghazi refugee camp in the central part of the enclave

TEL AVIV, January 10. /TASS/. The Israeli military attacked 150 Hamas sites on the territory of the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported.

"A total of approximately 150 terror targets were struck by IDF troops over the last day," the statement said. The press service pointed out that "IDF ground, air, and naval troops are continuing to operate against the Hamas terrorist organization" in the Palestinian enclave.

"During operational activity in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, IDF ground troops directed IAF aircraft to strike and eliminate more than 10 terrorists," the military added. The press service also said that "the ground troops uncovered more than 15 underground tunnel shafts" in the Maghazi refugee camp in the central part of the enclave, and "during targeted raids on military sites in the area," "destroyed a machine used for manufacturing rockets."

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023 when militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian movement Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from Gaza, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and taking over 240 hostages, including women, children and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. In response, Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million Palestinians, and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
