TOKYO, November 20. /TASS/. North Korea has notified the Japanese Coast Guard about a plan to launch a satellite between November 22 and December 1, Kyodo reported.
According to the report, North Korea intends to designate three maritime danger zones: the East China Sea, the Yellow Sea and waters east of the Philippine island of Luzon.
On November 19, South Korea's Defense Minister Shin Won-sik said that North Korea could launch its first reconnaissance satellite within a week or by the end of November to beat South Korea, which is set to put its first military satellite into orbit on November 30. The South Korean Armed Forces Joint Chiefs of Staff demanded that Pyongyang halt preparations for the launch immediately.
North Korean attempts to launch its first reconnaissance satellite in May and August failed. Pyongyang announced a plan to make a third attempt in October, but it did not happen.
