Russia's victory in Ukraine to make NATO more vulnerable, organization’s chief says

Jens Stoltenberg claimed that military support for Ukraine should bring a long-term and just resolution to the crisis closer

BERLIN, November 10. /TASS/. A potential Russian victory in the conflict in Ukraine threatens to weaken NATO as an alliance, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Berlin.

According to him, Russia's victory in Ukraine would not only be a tragedy for Kiev, but also carries risk for NATO. It would make NATO vulnerable, Stoltenberg is convinced.

"We must continue to give the Ukrainians the weapons they need to stay strong on the battlefield today. So they can be strong at the negotiating table tomorrow," the NATO chief added. He believes that it is in NATO’s best interest to continue supporting Ukraine. Military support for Ukraine should bring a long-term and just resolution to the crisis closer, Stoltenberg said when asked about the risks of reducing aid to Ukraine as the conflict drags on.

Stoltenberg's press conference in Berlin was unusually short, as journalists asked the NATO secretary general only one question about the reduction of Western military aid to Kiev. Despite the moderator's appeals, German journalists had no more questions for Stoltenberg.
