UNRWA shelters overwhelmed with refugees from Gaza beyond their capacity

Nearly 600,000 internally displaced people are sheltering in 150 UNRWA facilities, the statement said

CAIRO, October 25. /TASS/. The shelters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) have already accepted almost 600,000 displaced individuals from the Gaza Strip which surpasses their capacity by a factor of four, the agency said in a statement on the X social media platform (formerly Twitter).

"Nearly 600,000 internally displaced people are sheltering in 150 @UNRWA facilities. Our shelters are four times over their capacities - many people are sleeping in the streets as current facilities are overwhelmed. At least 40 @UNRWA installations have been impacted," the statement said.

"There is no safe place in Gaza today," the agency quoted its Commissioner General, Philippe Lazzarini, as saying.
