Chinese parliament appoints Lan Fo’an as new Minister of Finance

Liu Kun served as the Minister of Finance since 2018

BEIJING, October 24. /TASS/. Chinese lawmakers dismissed Liu Kun from the Finance Minister’s office, appointing Lan Fo'an, Secretary of the Communist Party of the Shanxi Province, in his place, CCTV reported Tuesday.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping signed a decree, approving decisions made after the session of the standing committee of the National People's Congress on October 20-24.

Liu Kun served as the Minister of Finance since 2018.

The new minister is 61 years old; he was born in the Guangdong province. In 1985, Lan Fo’an graduated from the Hubei University of Economics; he joined the Communist Party of China the same year.

Between December, 2022 and September, 2023, he served as the Secretary of the Communist Party of the Shanxi Province. Previously, he occupied party offices in Hainan and Guangdong provinces.
