Iran, Belarus sign agreement on prisoner extradition — news agency

The signing ceremony was attended by the presidents of the two countries, Ebrahim Raisi and Alexander Lukashenko

TEHRAN, March 13. /TASS/. Iranian Justice Minister Amin Hossein Rahimi and Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov signed a bilateral agreement on the mutual extradition of prisoners on Monday, Tasnim News Agency reported.

According to the news agency, the signing ceremony was attended by the presidents of the two countries, Ebrahim Raisi and Alexander Lukashenko. Under the agreement, convicted prisoners will be extradited to serve the remaining period of their sentences in their respective homelands.

The Belarusian leader is on an official visit to Iran on March 12-13. According to BelTA news agency, following bilateral talks, Raisi and Lukashenko signed a road map of cooperation between the two countries covering the period 2023-2026. The document calls for comprehensive cooperation on the political, economic, consular, scientific and technical tracks, as well as in the fields of education, culture, art, media and tourism. According to Tasnim News Agency, altogether the parties have signed eight agreements on cooperation in various areas.
