"The suspects, the direct perpetrators, have already been identified and detained," Vitaly Ignatyev said

MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. A terrorist attack targeting Transnistria’s leader, Vadim Krasnoselsky, has been thwarted, Foreign Minister of the unrecognized republic Vitaly Ignatyev said on Thursday.

"The situation is quite alarming, a very powerful terrorist attack has been foiled. <…> An assassination attempt was thwarted in recent days, and the suspects, the direct perpetrators, have already been identified and detained," the diplomat told Rossiya-24 television.

According to Ignatyev, a series of terrorist attacks that targeted both the republic’s president and "other senior officials" were being plotted in Transnistria.

Earlier on Thursday, Transnistria’s State Security Ministry said a terrorist attack on several officials of the unrecognized republic, which was being plotted at the behest of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), had been thwarted. The plan was to attack Krasnoselsky somewhere along the route of his motorcade.
