NATO countries training several Ukrainian mechanized infantry brigades — Pentagon chief

Lloyd Austin called it "a pretty substantial capability"

NEW YORK, February 24. /TASS/. The United States and its allies are training several Ukrainian mechanized infantry brigades, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said in an interview with CNN.

"We’re training and equipping several brigades of mechanized infantry - that’s a pretty substantial capability. In addition to that, additional artillery," Austin pointed out.

"I think the things that we’re doing, the capability that we’re providing - again, capability, not just a platform - the capabilities that we’re providing I think will enable the Ukrainians to begin to change the dynamics on the battlefield," he went on to say. "So rather than having a stalemate, what you’ll probably see is Ukrainians shaping this fight so they can create opportunities for themselves and exploit those opportunities going forward," the Pentagon chief added.

Russian officials have repeatedly emphasized that Western weapons supplies to Kiev will not change the situation on the battlefield.
