China to oppose hegemony, power politics, says Xi Jinping

According to the Chinese leader, Beijing seeks to facilitate efforts to build international relations of a new type

BEIJING, October 16. /TASS/. China will oppose all forms of hegemony and power politics, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the opening ceremony of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on Sunday.

"China will facilitate the establishment of a community of a shared future for mankind, strongly supporting international justice, adhering to and protecting true multilateralism. We are strongly against all forms of hegemony and power politics and we will resolutely oppose any kind of unilateralism and protectionism," he noted.

"China will never seek hegemony or engage in expansion," Xi Jinping said, adding that China was determined to pursue a peaceful and independent foreign policy.

According to the Chinese leader, Beijing seeks to facilitate efforts to build international relations of a new type. China is actively engaged in reforming and establishing a system of global management, Xi Jinping said, highlighting China’s role in the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
