London sent note to Moscow over captured mercenaries in DPR, Russian envoy says

"They sent a note, which was written in an arrogant and lecturing manner," Andrey Kelin noted

MOSCOW, June 21. /TASS/. London contacted Moscow over British mercenaries sentenced to death in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin said.

"As for the two young men who are mercenaries and fought against Donetsk alongside the Ukrainian army, I can say that the British contacted us, they sent a note, which was written in an arrogant and lecturing manner. It did not excite the desire to cooperate on these issues," the envoy told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"It’s not a call for dialogue but an arrogant statement that we must respect their rights. A lot was said about what we must do. However, I failed to see any signs of dialogue. Our recommendation remains the same, they should contact the entity that has jurisdiction over the territory where these people are at the moment, that is, the DPR," Kelin noted.

A DPR court earlier found British nationals Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin and Moroccan Brahim Saadoun guilty of participating in military activities as mercenaries on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the DPR Prosecutor General's Office, the testimony of Shaun Pinner, Aiden Aslin and Brahim Saadoun confirmed their involvement in crimes as defined by Article 34.2 of the DPR Criminal Code (crimes committed by a group of people), Article 323 of the DPR Criminal Code (forcible seizure of power or forcible retention of power) and Article 430 of the DPR Criminal Code (mercenary activities).
