Russia must not dictate peace conditions to Ukraine, Scholz claims again

According to the German Chancellor, only Ukraine, its president, parliament and people can define the framework of the peace agreement with Russia

KIEV, June 16. /TASS/. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again claimed that is it would be unacceptable for Russia to dictate conditions for a peace agreement to Ukraine.

"Russia must know that," Scholz said during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.

According to Scholz, only Ukraine, its president, parliament and people can define the framework of the peace agreement with Russia. Scholz acknowledged that Moscow and Kiev "are still very far away" from such agreement.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to the aid request from the Donbass republics. In response, the West imposed wide-scale sanctions on Russia and commenced shipment of billions of dollars’ worth of weapons to Kiev.
