In recent days, Donetsk, Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Makeevka, and other DPR cities and towns have been heavily bombarded by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Gorlovka, which is located in the northeast of the republic, is a major industrial center in Donbass, with developed mining, machine-building, and chemical industries. Since 2014, the city has been next to the line of contact. Almost every day, the city suffers from shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces, which results in damage to housing and urban infrastructure and in civilian deaths.
